SUMMARY:BECCLE Seminar om matmarkedet
DESCRIPTION:BECCLE har gleden av å invitere til et halvdagsseminar om matmarkedet\, 5. mai på NHHs Campus i Oslo. \nMatmarkedene i Norge er under konstant oppmerksomhet. Nylig har Konkurransetilsynet godkjent fusjonen mellom Coop og Ica på vilkår. Regjeringen jobber med en lov om god handelsskikk\, og debatten om hvor marginene forsvinner i distribusjonskjeden pågår. I dette seminaret ønsker vi å rette søkelys på alle disse problemsstillingene\, og vi har invitert en rekke økonomer og jurister til å presentere sine syn som grunnlag for diskusjon og debatt. \n \nSeminaret avholdes på NHHs Campus i Oslo\nSeminaret er gratis\, men har begrenset deltakelse. A link to the live stream will be nade available at the day of the seminar.\nThe seminar will be held in English \n  \nOn the Topic:\nThe Directive on antitrust damages actions was signed into law on 26 November 2014. Its approval has been the outcome of more than 10 years of case law developments\, consultations\, suggestions and negotiations. \nThis new instrument aims at setting the legal grounds to coordinate and facilitate private claims for damages due to breach of EU competition law before national courts. The text aims at guaranteeing the right of victims to seek full compensation for antitrust damages as one of the elements of an effective system of private enforcement of infringements of competition law\, in addition to the traditional public enforcement by competition authorities. \nDr. Peyer will discuss the main aspects of the Directive and his views on the (dis)incentives the Directive is likely to create for claimants seeking compensation. His presentation will include a discussion of the Directive’s goals and its suitability to reach the objectives it pursues. Also\, Dr. Peyer will analyze the challenges posed by the difficulties of accessing to information. \nProf. Henriksson’s presentation will be focused on the welfare effects generated by the private enforcement and the right to seek damage compensation. His presentation questions whether the right to damages may have positive welfare effects and who is more likely to benefit from them: the claimant\, consumers as a whole or other undertakings? \n  \n
