A more sustainable society is needed to slow down and ultimately reverse the rapid climate change. For firms to become more sustainable, they are often encouraged to join forces for example by entering sustainability agreements. This triggers the questions of whether the ban on anticompetitive agreements is a problem when faced with these types of climate friendly collaborations, and if so, whether competition law should be revised in order to allow for sustainability considerations to be taken into account as possible justifications under the prohibition against anticompetitive agreements.
