Horizontal Mergers and Product Quality
I artikkelen “Horisontal Mergers and Product Quality”, studerer Kurt Brekke, Luigi Siciliani (University of York) og Odd rune Straume (University of Minho) av den grunn effektene av horisontale fusjoner kvalitet, pris, og velferd. De bruker et teoretisk rammeverk med tre (ex ante) identiske bedrifter som tilbyr differensierte produkt. På seminaret vil Brekke legge frem artikkelen hvor det blant annet påpekes at de fusjonerende bedriftene alltid reduserer kvalitet, men effekten på pris avhenger av hvor responsiv etterspørselen er med hensyn til kvalitet.
